Hotel Phoenicia Malta is a national symbol and is part of Malta’s social and cultural history.
The Phoenicia Hotel was built in 1939 by Mr. and Mrs. Strickland in collaboration with architect AMB Binnie. Unfortunately, World War II broke out during construction meaning the hotel’s opening plans fell to pieces.
Hotel Phoenicia Malta was home to the members of the Royal Air Force (United Kingdom) during their leave. The left wing of the hotel was struck by a bombardment and had to be rebuilt after the war.

Bastion Pool Restaurant
